Course Chair: Christina Fitzgerald – Shakespeare Martineau LLP
Christina works in the Restructuring and Insolvency team at Shakespeare Martineau LLP. She is based in the London office and deals with all aspects of contentious and non-contentious corporate and personal insolvency, advising IPs, accountants, banks, ABLs, and other commercial organisations. Christina qualified as a Licensed IP over 13 years ago. She regularly lectures to client groups (R3 Annual Conference, Insol Europe Academic Conference and the University of Amsterdam). Christina is the London regional chair for R3.
Course Chair: Steve Billot – Greystones Transformation Services Ltd
Having worked for over 35 years’ within a number of advisory firms, Steve now has the opportunity to use his skills and experiences by working with organisations as a trusted advisor and occasionally in a non-executive capacity. Steve has particular experience in working with professional practices. Having been the practice manager, and then joint managing partner of a mid tier accountancy firm, he understands the challenges of running a firm. Steve has particular expertise in the legal sector and understands the impacts the sector faces. He has lectured for the SRA, The Law Society, to members of R3, the ICAEW, and run training courses for many banks including Barclays, Lloyds, HSBC, NatWest and RBS

Sam Palmer – Ashfords LLP
Sam has over 20 years’ experience in private practice focusing on professional and financial risks. In addition, Sam was Head of Regulatory Management at the Solicitors Regulation Authority for three years. She led the SRA’s Financial Stability Programme and the Intensive Supervision of the largest law firms facing fi nancial challenge, including many significant law firms not in the public arena. Sam led the regulatory supervision of the largest law firms facing financial pressures, including a significant number that recovered financially, as well as all of the high profile collapses.
Frank Maher – Legal Risk LLP
Frank Maher is a partner in Legal Risk LLP, solicitors, specialising in professional regulation and professional indemnity insurance for law firms and other professional practices. He has advised law firms and insurers on professional indemnity issues, including the defence of several thousand claims and coverage issues over 35 years. His claims experience even includes the defence of a claim arising from the imposition of the death penalty. His client base includes many of the world’s largest law firms, including firms based in Europe, the USA, Australia and Asia, but also includes many traditional UK regional and high street firms.
Clare Boardman – Deloitte LLP
Clare is a restructuring and turnaround expert with eighteen years’ experience with Deloitte. She leads the Leeds and Newcastle restructuring team and her experience includes cross industry private sector work including oil & gas, retail, professional practices, property, healthcare and manufacturing/engineering. Clients include Boards and Corporates, as well as a range of other stakeholders and creditor groups. Support expertise includes turnaround planning and execution, debt refi nancing, acquisition support, restructuring, contingency planning for insolvency, options analysis, working capital optimisation, fast track M&A and formal insolvency
