The Position

This is an exciting chance to influence public policy debates which are frequently the subject of front-page headlines and political discussion: business and job rescue, ethics issues, fraud disruption, personal debt, and mental health are all policy areas relevant to the insolvency and restructuring profession.

As R3’s Public Affairs and Policy Officer, you will enhance and defend the reputation of the insolvency and restructuring profession in Westminster, Whitehall and the devolved parliaments, while also liaising with R3’s key policy committees, the rest of the Press, Policy and Public Affairs team, and senior members of the profession to formulate policies for reforming the UK’s insolvency and restructuring framework, and policy responses to government consultations and issues raised by high profile insolvencies.

You will have responsibility for managing R3’s policy committees (Policy Group, Fraud Group, and Personal Insolvency Committee), reporting on these groups’ discussions to the rest of R3, and representing R3 at meetings with stakeholder groups.

As a crucial part of R3’s press and public affairs team, you will also be supporting the team’s overall objectives, helping to inform press work and political debate, and contributing towards the team’s successful track record of policy change and political engagement on insolvency and restructuring issues.

This is your chance to have a direct influence on the way the UK’s insolvency and restructuring framework – and the economy – operates.

The Person

Experience of working in parliament, public affairs, a think tank or a related field is essential, and experience of policy development is desirable. The ability to demonstrate professional curiosity and an enthusiasm for exploring and owning new policy issues is a must.

If you are self-motivated, efficient, and well-organised, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and on simultaneous projects, then this is the ideal opportunity for you.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, including the ability to adapt content and arguments for different audiences.
